At the request of the leadership of "Mileniumi i Tretë" Elementary School – Prishtina, Kosovo Railways organized an excursion train for the students of this school on 22.05.2009. There were three second-grade classes of this school with their responsible teachers, who, after arriving by bus from Prishtina, were seated in the motor train that was waiting on platform 1 of the passenger railway station in Fushë Kosovë. It was the first train trip in Kosovo for these students, and after being seated on the train and its departure at 10:00 from the station, all excited, they began the trip according to the schedule drawn up for this occasion, whose destination was the Ferizaj station.
The organizer of this excursion was a parent of a student of this school, Mrs. Ajete Veseli, who says this is a good experience through which students directly learn about the development of rail communication in Kosovo, which is also foreseen in the school's curriculum, thus also fulfilling a planned obligation.
During the trip the students felt the enjoyment of the train ride and, speaking with them, expressed that they enjoyed the train and liked it extraordinarily much. They were curious about the passenger train and asked various questions, which the train staff answered. All the students, organized in groups of three, went out into the empty driver's cabin and, with excitement and enjoyment, watched the train move. After arriving at the Ferizaj station and after a short walk around the town of Ferizaj, they happily returned to the train. During the return trip as well, these little students of this school enjoyed themselves and, out of curiosity, asked about everything, and among other things some also asked "why isn't there anything for sale on the train to buy refreshing drinks, since the teacher has the money".
Discussing this with their teachers, we learned that most of these students had lived in various Western countries and had experience with international train travel, having had the opportunity to buy refreshing drinks on the trains. After arriving at the passenger station in Fushë Kosovë, the students also visited the Museum of Kosovo Railways, and the Transport Manager informed them about the exhibits displayed in the museum.
A little "surprised" by the train ride, and released by the responsible teachers, in the cool hall of the station they began to relax and, playing around, stayed there for a while longer. After relaxing a bit, they left the train station; the bus was waiting for them in front of the station, and thus, satisfied, and hopefully with a good memory full of impressions, they departed for their homes.
