Passenger Transport
Trainkos Sh.A. provides passenger transport services within and outside Kosovo.
The portfolio of services we offer in passenger transport is:
- Passenger transport on the Prishtina – Peja – Prishtina line;
- Passenger transport on the Fushë Kosovë – Hani i Elezit – Fushë Kosovë line;
- Passenger transport on the Prishtina – Skopje – Prishtina line;
Domestic transport
For domestic transport, Trainkos operates the following regular daily trains:
- Intercity Train (IC) – which runs daily on the Peja – Prishtina – Peja route;
- Local Train (TL) – which runs daily on the Peja – Prishtina – Peja route;
- Free Movement Train (TLL) – on the Fushë Kosovë – Hani i Elezit – Fushë Kosovë route;
- Local Train (TL) – which runs daily on the Fushë Kosovë – Hani i Elezit – Fushë Kosovë route;
General Terms and Conditions
Entry to stations and areas designated for passengers is permitted to all persons who have purchased tickets for travel, as well as to those who intend to purchase tickets for travel. Only persons holding valid travel tickets are permitted to board the train.
The contract of carriage between the passenger and the railway is concluded at the moment when the passenger purchases the travel ticket and pays the applicable fare. The travel ticket constitutes proof of the conclusion of the contract of carriage and entitles the passenger to travel by rail within the specified period, on the specified route, in the class and type of train indicated on the ticket. Travel tickets are issued by the authorized person on the train (conductor) and by passenger ticket offices at railway stations.
Ticket Purchase
The passenger must obtain a travel ticket at the station ticket office or on the train if they have not obtained one at the ticket office.
Passengers holding a valid travel ticket are permitted to board the train only before the departure signal has been given.
Ticket Validity
The validity period of a travel ticket begins at 00:01 on the first day of the validity period indicated on the ticket. The journey must be completed using a train that, according to the timetable, arrives at the nearest station no later than 24:00 on the last day of validity.
Interruption of the Journey
A one-way travel ticket allows one interruption of the journey. A return ticket allows one interruption during the outward journey and one during the return journey. In both cases, the interruption must be officially validated at the station where the journey is interrupted.
The validation of the interruption must be carried out immediately after leaving the train by the station manager or the responsible employee. If the interruption has not been validated, the travel ticket will not be valid for continuing the journey. In the case of return tickets, it will not be valid only for the subsequent part of the outward journey.
An interruption of the journey does not extend the validity period of the travel ticket.
Bus Services
From/to Fushë Kosovë railway station, you have direct bus connections to/from Prishtina every 10 minutes.
Lost and Found
Items found or lost on trains and at railway stations are collected and stored at the railway station in Fushë Kosovë.

Types of tickets
Trainkos J.S.C. offers passengers the following types of tickets:
- One-way ticket – valid for a single journey;
- Return ticket – valid for travel in both directions;
- Discounted ticket – available to students, pupils, etc.; and
- Monthly ticket – available to students, pupils, employees, etc.

Benefits
Fare Benefits
The passenger fare structure includes fare benefits for certain categories of passengers throughout the territory in which Trainkos J.S.C. operates.
20% Fare Benefits
- All passengers who purchase a return ticket within 24 hours. This benefit applies to passengers who purchase a return ticket from the initial station to the destination station and back to the station from which the journey started.
- All journalists travelling on official visits who hold a membership card issued by the Kosovo Journalists' organization.
These tickets are issued at stations and on trains.
50% Fare Benefits
- Pupils and persons over 65 years of age. These tickets are issued at stations and on trains.
- Students, with an ID card issued by Trainkos J.S.C.
- Blind persons and their companions, with an ID card issued by Trainkos J.S.C.
- Paraplegic and tetraplegic persons and their companions, with an ID card issued by Trainkos J.S.C.
- Former political prisoners and persons politically persecuted, with an ID card issued by Trainkos J.S.C.
100% Fare Benefits – Free Travel
The following persons are entitled to free train travel on the lines operated by Trainkos J.S.C.:
- War veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA);
- War invalids of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA);
- Family members of martyrs (parents, spouse and children);
- Members of the Kosovo Security Force;
- Children under 4 years of age who do not occupy a separate seat and travel on the lap of their accompanying person; and
- Trainkos J.S.C. employees travelling to and from work.
Documentation Required for Fare Benefits
To receive the above-mentioned fare benefits, pupils must present their school record book, while persons over 65 years of age must present their identification document.
For the other categories entitled to the 50% fare benefit and 100% free travel, with the exception of children under 4 years of age, passengers must obtain an ID card issued by Trainkos J.S.C. The ID card is obtained from the company's administration upon presentation of documentation confirming the passenger's eligibility for the respective category.
The passengers referred to above are required, upon request by the conductor, ticket inspector or authorized Trainkos employee during ticket inspections on Trainkos trains, to present the relevant documentation proving their entitlement to the applicable fare benefit or free travel.
Additional charges
For occupying more than one seat, deliberately avoiding ticket inspection, travelling without a valid travel ticket, failing to report to the conductor, or obstructing the conductor in the performance of their duties during ticket inspection and payment, the passenger shall, in addition to the applicable additional charge, be subject to a €5 penalty.
Baggage Transport
Passengers are entitled to carry, free of charge, as hand luggage in passenger carriages, items that can be easily placed under or above the seat they occupy, provided that this does not conflict with customs regulations and that the items do not cause damage to the passenger carriages.
Travel baggage consists of items intended for the passenger's personal use and packed in suitcases, baskets, boxes or other suitable containers.
If the items cannot be accommodated in the designated luggage spaces in the carriage, the passenger shall pay the applicable charge for the portion exceeding the permitted hand luggage allowance, in accordance with the passenger fares in force.
It is prohibited to place baggage on seats, on the floor or in the passageways of the carriages.
Passenger baggage is accepted for transport only at the station, upon presentation of the travel ticket, no later than 15 minutes before the departure of the train.
Animal Transport
According to the applicable rules, live animals may not be transported in passenger carriages or catering carriages. However, provided that this does not conflict with veterinary, sanitary or other applicable regulations, the following may be transported in passenger carriages:
- Small animals kept in closed cages, baskets or suitable containers, provided that they can be accommodated as hand luggage;
- Small dogs that, when measured from the ground to the top of the neck, do not exceed 30 cm in height, provided that they do not disturb other passengers and can be carried in the arms.
Dogs transported by rail, regardless of their size, must wear a protective muzzle, while larger dogs must be kept secured with a short leash.
Dogs may not be brought into or transported on railcars that do not have designated compartments for this purpose.
For each dog, except small dogs, transported in passenger carriages, a fare equal to half the regular second-class passenger ticket price shall be charged. In sleeping carriages, the entire compartment must also be reserved for exclusive personal use.
