On September 14 and 15, 2013, the "Hajde" project was launched to support and promote diverse cultures in Kosovo. It was sponsored by the European Union and the Council of Europe, in direct cooperation with the British Embassy in Pristina, Trainkos Sh.A., Infrakos Sh.A., the Municipality of Peja, the Municipality of Deçan, and the Association for the Promotion of Cultural Diversity, organized by Heritage Management Promotion – West – PMT.
The Kosovo Railways company – Trainkos Sh.A. supported this project by making available two diesel motor trains with which passengers would travel from Pristina to Peja and vice versa.
On Saturday, September 14, 2013, the project's first train departed, attended by the Ambassador of Great Britain to Kosovo, Mr. Ian Cliff, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports, Mr. Hajdin Abazi, citizens of various ethnic communities living in Kosovo, foreign citizens on various missions in Kosovo, as well as the youngest attendees, children from the "Kopshti i Ëndrrave" kindergarten.
Throughout the entire journey to Peja, which lasted approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, passengers experienced an extraordinary trip with soft music and beautiful natural landscapes accompanying them along the way. Free water and a biscuit were also distributed to all passengers. It should also be noted that the singer-songwriter Prof. Xhevat Kelmendi entertained the passengers, singing old civic songs and various songs in foreign languages with his guitar.
Upon arriving in Peja, the organizers (PMT – West) welcomed the attendees and guided them to the buses that took them to visit the "Porta West" Tourism Information Center, where the Mayor of Peja, Mr. Ali Berisha, came out to meet the visitors. There, visitors learned about handicrafts and souvenirs made by citizens of the Dukagjini region, as well as traditional food. Participants then visited the Patriarchate of Peja, learning about its centuries-old history, before continuing to the Ethnological Museum. Later, they visited the "Qarshi Mosque" in the center of Peja, reunited at "Haxhi Zeka" Square, and continued their journey to the White Drin Spring and the waterfall in Radac.
This trip ended in the evening; while participants appeared tired from the places visited, the train ride from the Peja train station back to Pristina offered them relaxation and rest.
On Sunday, September 15, 2013, the "Hajde" project continued supporting and promoting various cultures in Kosovo, this time with different destinations. The Ambassador of Great Britain to Kosovo, Mr. Ian Cliff, was also present on the second day, alongside various citizens living in or visiting Kosovo. In addition to the "Porta West" Tourism Information Center and the Ethnological Museum, participants visited the Ahmetxhekaj Kulla in Isniq, where they ate a traditional lunch (fli, leqenik, cheese, peppers, yogurt, etc.), after which the elder of the kulla informed them about its history. From the kullas of Isniq, they headed to Deçan to visit the "Shabanaj Mill." Women's handicrafts, national clothing, and other items were displayed at this mill. The final visit concluding the first week of the "Hajde" project was to the Deçan Monastery.
During the trip, participants inquired about passenger train operations within the territory of Kosovo Railways, namely Trainkos Sh.A. They were also interested in train schedules, focusing particularly on international passenger train traffic. They were informed about the international train running on the Pristina – Fushë Kosovë – Hani i Elezit route, continuing to the Skopje station in the Republic of Macedonia.
